Privacy policy

This policy covers the iPhone app Currency Converter & Scanner (with its widgets) and this website. Both are made by Aleksey Smolygin, an independent developer (“we”, “us”). The app has no accounts, shows no ads, and we do not sell your data.

Data stored on your iPhone

Your chosen currencies, recent amounts, custom exchange rates, the last downloaded rate and widget settings are stored on your device (and shared with the app’s widgets through an App Group). Deleting the app deletes them. Amounts shown on screen can appear in session recordings, described below.

The camera price scanner recognizes numbers on your device with Apple’s Vision framework. The scanner does not save photos or upload them for recognition. Session recordings may include screenshots of the scanner screen.

Analytics and session recordings

The app uses PostHog to collect usage events: app opens, screens viewed, which currency pair you convert between, when the camera is opened, onboarding steps and your answers to the two onboarding questions (how you heard about the app and what you use it for), and paywall views and purchases. Each event includes device and app information such as device model, iOS version, app version and language, and PostHog derives an approximate location (country or city) from your IP address. Events are linked to a random identifier created on your device, not to your name or Apple ID.

PostHog session recording captures screenshots of the app’s screens while you use it, so we can see where the interface is confusing or broken. Recordings can show anything displayed in the app during the session, including amounts you type. Recordings and events are kept for the retention period of our PostHog plan and then deleted automatically.

Purchases

Payments are handled by Apple; we never see your card details. RevenueCat receives your App Store receipt and a random app user ID to confirm which plan you bought and to restore it on a new device. If you installed the app from an Apple Search Ads ad, RevenueCat also receives Apple’s attribution token (campaign information, no personal identifiers) so we can see which ads work.

Feature requests

If you open the feature request screen, WishKit stores the requests and votes you submit, and any email address you choose to add.

Exchange rates

The app downloads exchange rates from our server, which gets them from ExchangeRate-API. The request contains no personal data, but like any web server ours sees your IP address. Rates are not tied to you.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, the app schedules reminders on your device, for example before a free trial ends. We do not use remote push notifications.

This website

Wanderfare sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. It is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, and Cloudflare processes standard request data (such as IP address) to deliver and protect the site.

Your choices and rights

We do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites, and we do not share data with data brokers or advertisers.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the app’s release notes.
